It's been a week and we gave the kids each a bag to put their favorite candy from trick or treating into it. No one but them can have this candy. The rest went into the giant pumpkin. This is family candy and anyone can choose from it. (I'll try the diet again after Easter...)

Our candy is gone! Every once in awhile I am happy that we don't have trick or treating around here because my kids act crazy until those pumpkins are empty. I love theat even Linden knows the simple joy of a big bucket full of candy.
Love one idea from one of my nieces where the candy was all divided evenly among the siblings with each child getting their personal favorites (which, lucky for the mom, were all different) and then made into a candy countdown to Christmas chain. (Amazing that there were just enough pieces to cover from Halloween to Christmas. Hmmmm maybe some creative or selective weeding out there?) So each child gets one piece from his or her chain each night before brushing teeth and going to bed.
My experience was always to chow down until it was all gone - as quick as I could. Funny that I still fight that inclination with candy. Well, actually, not so funny.....
